What began as a single spice blend given to friends as a Christmas gift, has now blossomed into a family business and a way to support local families with special needs children.
The company was started by Anne Shomberg and Heidi Basik in 2008 out of a love for cooking and sharing food with others. Over a short period of time, the two moms were successfully selling Basiks Spice Blends to stores and restaurants around the U.S. They traveled across the country introducing people to their all natural spice blends at trade shows, women’s events, and craft fairs. After Heidi decided to focus solely on her passion for ministry, Otis Mehlberg, Anne’s brother became involved in the business. Otis is a life-long entrepreneur and attorney with a great deal of business experience and an intense desire to help others. Anne and Otis are no strangers to working together. Prior to Basiks at Home™, the Shomberg and Mehlberg families built a successful construction related business which they sold in 2005.
Because people love the Basiks products when they first taste them, Basiks at Home™ was birthed to help more people learn how to eat healthy at home while helping others in the process. The company gives 3% of its gross sales to a foundation chosen by its Independent Representatives (IReps) to help children with special needs. They believe blessing others with success is true success, and teaching others to become successful is the greatest success one can know!
